WHY DO BLACK PEOPLE KILL EACH OTHER?

Poverty and gang violence is the main causes of black on black crime. Often times black men are killed for their Jordan shoes or Cartier sunglasses. It’s sad, but that’s reality — in Detroit.

I grew up poor in the city of Detroit. I didn’t wear Jordan’s until I could afford a pair with my own money. I believe I had 1 or 2 pairs. I bought them while working fast food in high school. As an adult, looking back that’s probably wasn’t the best way to spend my money, but I didn’t have any guidance growing like many other kids in Detroit.

Detroit is a fashion show. I live in the south at this time. The south not into fashion like Detroit. I like to look good when going out and I get that from Detroit. Whenever I would go out with friends or family back when I lived at home everybody had to get fine. My cousin would hit the mall and as she would say,

Pop them tags.

When we went out in Detroit you saw all the fancy cars, shiny rims, nice fashion, chains, watches, fur coats, etc. Men that didn’t dress nice didn’t get attention from women.

Nonetheless, a lot of the killing is related to poverty and crime. Many men turn to the streets to make ends meet. Some have real jobs and need extra money. Others live that live and don’t do nothing else.

POVERTY HAS MENTAL EFFECTS

People don’t realize that poverty causes people to go crazy. Men turn to all types of drugs and alcohol to cope.

WILL THE VIOLENCE EVER STOP?

I don’t think so. It’s too much money being made from black men dying. The rap music promotes this lifestyle, the environment / hood promotes this lifestyle. It could stop, but it will have to be a collective effort among the black community. Every time somebody try to organize or do something positive in the black community, they end up dead.
