There’s No Reason To Return To An Office Environment After The Quarantine

Working from home should be the new normal

When will companies get with the program? I don’t think they ever will.

I was working as a temp in North Carolina for about 8 weeks before the quarantine. The manager announced that we would be going remote because of the coronavirus pandemic. Most of my co-workers were happy. This one guy stood up, clapped, smiled, and said,

YES I’ve always wanted to work from home!

He is 55 years old and had miserably worked in an office environment all his life. Now he is super happy to work from home. Please don’t take that from him. I was happy for his happiness. But more importantly working from home will save lives.

Another co-worker was happy because he had a 2 1/2 hour commute everyday each way totaling 5 hours. Not to mention the minutes added for traffic and accidents. Sometimes he just said f*ck it and slept in his car in the Walmart parking lot next to my car. He would be too exhausted after working 8 hours to drive all the way home and would be too exhausted waking up at 4am to get ready to drive to work battling through traffic. He would just drive home on the weekend and sleep…
