Package Concierge (PC)is a service in multi-dwelling buildings, usually apartments. The company put lockers in the building or somewhere on the property. Delivery services like FedEx, UPS, USPS, and Amazon put residents’ packages in the locker. Once the package is put in the locker, the resident is notified by text and/or email.
I recently moved into an apartment. I bought a few things online. However, my packages have been delivered outside my apartment. I bought a bed, desk, and desk chair so far. All items came in big boxes. So I was glad I was able to push in my packages in my apartment. Recently my packages have been placed in the PC lockers. The first time I went to retrieve a package it was a hassle. I didn’t have a PIN and the second time my username did not work. So now I am learning one of my packages was taken to the leasing office instead of package concierge. I am sure it was taken to the leasing office instead of PC because of the size. I bought a cube storage from Target. This is very inconvenient. I understand that one of the purposes for the PC is to reduce theft.
However, theft can be prevented with cameras. Second, PC should be a second option if the tenant is not home. Instead of leaving the package outside the residents’ apartment for someone to take, the next option should be sent to PC. Most people do not steal. I have not had any problems. I had a laptop delivered to me that cost over $1,200 that was sitting outside my apartment. PC should not be forced…
