Are you black and thinking about going to law school?

No you should not go to law school. I came across this article about this young woman, Melinda Oliver who got accepted into law school. The article was discussing her mother’s reaction when she informed her that she had been accepted. In addition, she received a $40,000 scholarship. She recorded it and posted it to social media.

That article made me think about my mother’s reaction. I took the LSAT 3 times and did not get in. I did 2 alternative programs for acceptance and did not get in through the programs. The alternative programs were at Cooley and Charlotte School of Law.

I was about to take the LSAT for the 4th time. Then Charlotte School of Law changed their mind. After I received email notification I was not accepted, I emailed them back. Then they sent me an email that they reconsidered and I was accepted.

I was leaving work getting in the elevator reading that email. My mother picked me up from work in downtown Detroit. I got in the car. She started the car, looked in the mirror, and was about to pull off. Before pulling off, I told my mother I got in law school. I read the email to her. She put the…
