You will need to take the bar exam. This exam is a two day test and it cost a lot of money. The bar exam cost $1,000 in South Carolina. You take the test after you graduate from law school. The bar exam is graded on a curve. So, you can fail even if you don’t fail. If you do worst than everybody else, you will not fail. You need to fall somewhere on the curve or above to pass the bar exam. The bar exam is twice a year. They say the bar exam measures competency to be a lawyer. That is highly debatable. The bar exam has 6 essay questions and 200 multiple choice questions. So it’s one day for essays and one day for multiple choice questions.

Enough is not discussed about the bar exam. There isn’t enough discussed about the requirement of the bar exam. It is a known fact that law school students have to take the bar exam after they graduate from law school to be licensed to practice law. I never knew about the bar exam until my last semester in law school. Instead of marketing law schools and becoming a lawyer, they need to market the bar exam with that marketing. It’s not about getting into law school. Yea sure law school is a requirement to become a lawyer, but that’s not all that’s required. You don’t see nothing about the bar exam on law school marketing material. If someone wants to be a lawyer you should tell them step by step what it requires. Hell the average person believes going to law school makes you an attorney. After law school I was broke, unemployed, and homeless. People use to criticize me saying things like,

You went to law school. Aren’t you a lawyer?

How are you broke if you went to law school?
